Heralding the 35th edition of National Games, Kerala held a mass run titled “Run Kerala Run’’ on Tuesday morning. The mass run was simultaneously held in 10,000 points across Kerala.
Governor P Sadasivam flagged off the “Run Kerala Run” in front of the state secretariat here at 10.30 am. National Games brand Ambassador Sachin Tendulkar and Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy led the leg of the mass run in the heart of the state capital. Theme song of the national games was presented at all points before commencing the run.
Film celebrities, political leaders, cultural activists, students and common public participated in the run, the extent of which ranged from 200 meters to one km. The government allowed one-hour interval from 10.30 to 11.30.
Organizers claimed that one crore people lined up on the street to participate in the event. The nation games would begin on January 31 at venues distributed among seven districts in Kerala.
